400m jump attempt, British base jumper dies

A British base jumper has died after falling from a 400m jump in Italy.

According to foreign media reports, a 65-year-old man named Mark Andrews died after falling on a smooth surface.

Media reports stated that he was wearing a wingsuit and parachute attached during his adventure, but it was not clear why the parachute did not open.

It is to be noted that the incident took place at a base jumping site near Mount Fai della Paganella in the Italian city of Trentino.

Mark Andrews arrived at the jumping site himself, while a fellow jumper informed the rescue authorities after the incident. His body was shifted from this hilly area to a nearby hospital with the help of a helicopter.

Mark Andrews was a retired engineer from Romania. He had previously performed 600 base jumping.
