(JKLF Azad Kashmir & Gilgit Baltistan sit-in on Tatrinote Line of control)

KOTLI – Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front(JKLF) represents the movement for preserving State’s identity and securing its independence, and the ongoing sit-in protest (Azadi Dharna) on the Ceasefire Line is yet another proof of the mandate it has to represent the will of the people of Jammu Kashmir.

Azadi Times: Unjustifiable taxes on electricity, intolerable levels of inflation, rising unemployment, and use of state-sponsored oppression and torture of peaceful demonstrators is absolutely unacceptable.

These problems can only be remedied with transfer of ownership and control of State’s resources to its subjects.

Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front(JKLF) represents the movement for preserving State’s identity and securing its independence, and the ongoing sit-in protest (Azadi Dharna) on the Ceasefire Line is yet another proof of the mandate it has to represent the will of the people of Jammu Kashmir.

The occupying forces should heed the clear and unambiguous message that people of Jammu Kashmir will not comprise on reunification, independence and sovereignty of the State.

In a statement issued on 5th day of the Azadi Dharna, JKLF spokesman Saad Ansari Advocate said that people are now joining the JKLF-led movement on an unprecedented scale and this represents a strengthening conviction amongst the people that an end to State’s forced occupation by India and Pakistan is imperative for a better future.

This is precisely the message that JKLF’s incarcerated chairman Yasin Malik has been leading on and is being punished for by India.

Addressing a large gathering in the sit-in protest on 5th consecutive day, Party leaders including Dr Toqeer Gilani, Toseef Jaral Advocate, Saad Ansari Advocate, Sardar Aman, Tahira Toqeer, Nusrat Hussain, Saddam Hayat and others vowed to continue the peaceful movement for independence until every last inch of the State is free of foreign occupation.

Thousands of participants joined in the slogans demanding withdrawal of occupying forces from Jammu Kashmir and reiterated their commitment to support the JKLF-led movement until its objectives are realised. The spokesman added that despite the adverse weather condition, the continous presence and participation of large number of people in the sit-in protest is a testament of their support and appreciation for Yasin Malik’s struggle and representative of entire nation’s demand that his unlawful imprisonment must end.

Meanwhile, a number of party leaders and workers including zonal deputy secretary general Shakeel Choudhry Advocate, Women wing secretary Tahira Toqeer, Ghulam Akbar Magray, Raja Nazim, Sohail Kashmiri and others have started a hunger strike in the protest camp in solidarity with the JKLF chairman, who has been on hunger strike since 22 July in Delhi’s Tihar Jail in protest against being deprived of his fundamental rights in ongoing cases.

The spokesman further added that the presence of people from all walks of life and all demographics in the Azadi Dharna is reflective of the urgency that people of Jammu Kashmir now associate with the resolution of the world’s longest running occupation. He appealled to the public to play their part in ensuring that the demands of this protest reach as far and wide as possible in order to draw the international community’s attention towards the barbaric but often ignored occupation of Jammu Kashmir.

Zonal President JKLF Pakistan Occupied Kashmir Dr Toqeer Gilani also reiterated that the only way to attract world’s attention the brutal occupation of Jammu Kashmir is through significant participation in a united movement for independence, and urged the public to continue participating in JKLF’s program of works so that the international community is left in no doubt as to what the real will of the people of Jammu Kashmir is.
