Directed to ensure Rs 20 per kg in ghee and oil prices

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has directed to ensure a reduction of 20 rupees per kg in the prices of ghee and edible oil in a month.

A meeting of the National Price Control and Monitoring Committee was held under the chairmanship of Ahsan Iqbal, in which the implementation of the decisions of the previous meeting of the committee was reviewed.

The meeting was attended by the Chief Economist, Ministry of Finance and officials of FBR. The participants were informed in the briefing that potato, tomato and other crops were damaged due to recent floods.

According to the Bureau of Statistics, the prices of 10 essential commodities, electricity, tomato, LPG cylinder, banana, garlic, lentil and edible oil have decreased during the week.

In the meeting, a report on the increase in the prices of wheat and other commodities was also presented. On this occasion, Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal directed measures to discourage illegal profiteering.

Ahsan Iqbal said that there has been a significant reduction in the prices of palm oil in the international market, a reduction of 20 rupees per kilo should be ensured in the prices of ghee and edible oil in a month.

Ahsan Iqbal further said that the supply of wheat from Leh should reduce the price significantly in Balochistan.
