In Faisalabad, power looms owners protested against the hike in electricity prices, saying Rs 60 per unit of electricity was unaffordable for the industry and forced them to shut down factories.

The increase in electricity prices in Faisalabad has broken the back of the power looms sector, due to which the owners have been forced to close the factories, the owners have come out on the streets with thousands of unemployed workers and recorded a protest.

Power looms owners say that loss-burdened production costs are causing factories to close and skilled workers to become unemployed.

The power looms owners protested and added that they have told the government that the industry will not be able to run at the current price of electricity, now the factories are closing down and the laborers are becoming unemployed, 60 rupees per unit of electricity is unaffordable for the industry. There is a gin of expensive electricity that is swallowing the industry.
