Petrol likely to be cheaper by Rs 7 and diesel by Rs 14 per litre

Petrol is expected to be cheaper by Rs 7 and diesel by Rs 14 per liter from next month.

According to sources, based on current taxes, petrol may be cheaper by Rs 7 per liter while diesel price may be reduced by Rs 14 per litre.

Sources say that currently GST is zero on petroleum products, however the levy on petrol is Rs 37 50 paise and on diesel the levy is Rs 7 58 paise per litre.

The Prime Minister will take the final decision on the prices of petroleum products in consultation with the Ministry of Finance.
