The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is set to begin on February 19 in Pakistan, featuring the world’s eight best cricket teams competing for the prestigious title. However, several teams will enter the tournament without some of their key players, who have been ruled out due to injuries and other reasons.

Pakistan’s Setback – Saim Ayub Ruled Out

Pakistan will miss young talent Saim Ayub, a crucial player in their squad. The 22-year-old suffered an ankle injury during the Test series against South Africa, forcing him out of the tournament. His absence could create a significant gap in the team’s lineup.

India’s Blow – Bumrah’s Injury

India will also be without their star pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who is suffering from a back injury. His replacement in the squad is Harshit Rana.

Similarly, England will miss young all-rounder Jacob Bethell, who suffered a hamstring injury. His replacement in the squad is Tom Banton.

New Zealand & Afghanistan Affected Too

New Zealand’s fast bowler Ben Sears also sustained a hamstring injury during training, leading to his replacement with Jacob Duffy.

From Afghanistan, young spinner M. Ghazanfar is ruled out due to a fractured bone, keeping him out of action for four months.

How Will These Absences Impact the Tournament?

With so many big names missing, the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will present an opportunity for young and emerging players to step up on the global stage. The question remains—can these replacements fill the void left by cricket’s biggest stars, or will their absence affect their teams’ chances of winning?

The tournament kicks off with the opening match between Pakistan and New Zealand on February 19 in Karachi.
