Jhuggis are built in vacant plots of Jammu city. A large number of workers live in them. Verification is mandatory for all. But no one knows how many such workers are living in the city and how many have been verified.
From time to time, orders are given to get the verification done from time to time by the district administration. This order has to be made effective by the police. But the police also do not have any such information as to how many tenants are there in the city. Both the district administration and the police only know that the tenants have to get the verification done, but how many tenants are getting the verification done, both are not aware.
According to the information, if the verification is not done, the police have to register an FIR under 188. But in the last one year only 3 FIRs have been registered for not getting the verification done. This FIR is also engaged in Trikuta Nagar area of the city. In such a situation, the question arises whether there were only 3 people in the city, who did not get themselves verified.
Police have to verify
The district administration issues orders from time to time to verify the tenants. The order to get the verification done by the police has to be made effective. But it is not known how many people have been verified. Nor has there ever been any survey as to how many tenants there are in the city. – Satish Kumar, ADC, Jammu.
Verification of how many, no information
Anyone who has a tenant has to give the details of the tenant to the concerned police station. They also have to be verified by the police, but how many tenants have been verified, it is not known at the moment. Chandan Kohli, SSP, Jammu.
