The case of selling public toilets came to light in Jammu and Kashmir.

For your information, let us tell you that the news is that the land was built by the Rural Development Department, but it was sold by a villager. This case pertains to Anantnag district in South Kashmir.
Along with this, taking cognizance of this, the Rural Development Department has issued an order for investigation. Meanwhile, the Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested Ghulam Mohammad Dar, Sarpanch of Panjgam in Awantipora while accepting a bribe of Rs.5,000. According to the information received from Anantnag, the Rural Development Department had built a public toilet near the local mosque last year under the 14th Finance Commission at Gallan Khiram Sirigufwara in Anantnag. It was built on the basis of the demand of the local people. Now a local villager has sold the toilet to a civilian who came and settled in the village about a month back. Along with this, when the villagers came to know about this, they strongly objected. He reached the buyer and asked him to leave the bathroom and the related land. The buyer denied this and said that he had bought 10 marlas of land. It also includes a bathroom and for this he has paid Rs 3.35 lakh. If he is given an alternative place, then only he will give up the possession. Block Development Officer Dachhnipora Ghazi Abdullah said that we have ordered an inquiry as soon as we got information about the incident. An inquiry committee has been constituted. We are probing the entire matter. Assistant Engineer RW Sub Division Dachhnipora is heading the inquiry committee. He will give his report in the next two days.
