For your information, let us tell you that Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) President Ghulam Nabi Azad said on Thursday that the Jammu and Kashmir government should postpone the imposition of property tax for a few years till the economic condition of the state improves. Along with this, he also said that if his party is elected then Roshni will bring back the act if it comes to power. Under this the ownership rights were given to the occupants of the state land. According to information, talking to reporters in Anantnag district of South Kashmir, Azad said that in the last 35 years, the economic situation in Jammu and Kashmir has deteriorated due to terrorism. Unemployment, inflation have increased manifold, he said. Tourism, handicrafts, horticulture have suffered a lot. Along with this, the people of Jammu and Kashmir including traders, transporters, shopkeepers have suffered losses. There is no person from Lakhanpur to Tangdhar who is not harmed. In such a situation, when we are taking land from them, increasing electricity charges, we are not in a position to pay property tax. Explain that the former Chief Minister said that Article 370 was abrogated in the last four years, in 2019 Jammu and Kashmir was converted into a UT. The outbreak of Kovid has also broken the back of the people, the supply of ration has been reduced from 35 kg to five kg. In such a situation, people have not got any relief. He has no income, so how will he pay tax. According to the information, he said that there is no problem in paying taxes to our people, but there should be income first. We know that tax will benefit us, but people should have the power to pay tax first, they should have money first. Right now they don’t have money to maintain themselves, how will they pay tax? That’s why I would appeal to the government to stop it for four-five years until our economic condition improves.
