For your information, let us tell you that retired Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police MM Khajuria has passed away on Wednesday. It is being told that he was 92 years old. Along with this, he has three daughters and son-in-law and six grandchildren in his family. Along with this, his last rites are going to be held at 1.30 pm on Thursday at Shanti Ghat located in Shastri Nagar of summer capital Jammu. Let us tell you that while condoling the death of MM Khajuria, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Dilbag Singh have expressed their condolences to his family members.
Along with this, MM Khajuria, who joined the Jammu and Kashmir Police Service in the year 1954, was appointed Director General of Police in January 1985 by the then Chief Minister GM Shah. He was also the Director General of Police till May 1986. Please tell that he was the second Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police, because till 1982, the head of the police in Jammu and Kashmir was an officer of the rank of Inspector General. The first Director General was Pir Ghulam Hasan Shah.
Along with this, MM Khajuria was the first police officer from Jammu province to take over as the Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police. Apart from him, LD Thakur and Dr. SP Vaid are the only police officers belonging to Jammu province who have graced the post of Director General.
Along with this, MM Khajuria, born on June 11, 1931, was also active in politics during his student life. He has also played an active role in the student movement for the restoration of free education system till post graduation in Jammu province. While in the Police Department, he showed his ability and loyalty on many important posts. Along with this, he has also served as an expert commissioner in Poonch after the agitation in Poonch of Jammu province. Also, he is the first officer of the Jammu and Kashmir Police to be appointed as the Special Commissioner in a district. Also, MM Khajuria, an expert in defense and civil administrative matters, spent most of his time in public service after his retirement from the police. Let us tell you that he often used to participate in seminars, meetings and TV debates on matters related to terrorism and the security of the country.
