But scholars say that the beginning of celebrating this day was in the year 1909 itself. It is said that the first Women’s Day was celebrated for the first time in America on 28 February 1909. In fact, this day was chosen by the Socialist Party of America to honor the strike of garment workers in New York City, USA in 1908. On the other hand, the women of Russia celebrated Women’s Day on February 28 for the first time in protest against the First World War. According to the Gregorian calendar, that day was on March 8, and the Gregorian calendar used to run all over the world at that time, so Women’s Day started being celebrated on March 8 itself.
