The fourth convocation of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Medical College was held on Tuesday. Khawaja Farooq Ahmed, the senior most minister of the independent state of Jammu and Kashmir, participated in the convocation as a special guest. Secretary Public Health Azad Kashmir Major General Zaheer Akhtar, Vice Chancellor University of Health Sciences Lahore Prof. Dr. Ahsan Waheed, Vice Chancellor Khyber Medical University Dr. Ziaul Haque, Principal Azad Jammu and Kashmir Medical College Prof. Dr. Malazam Hussain Bukhari, faculty members and completing MBBS. Students and their parents also participated. Principal Medical College, Prof. Dr. Latab Hussain Bukhari, presented the annual report of the institution in the convocation.
Chief guest Khawaja Farooq Ahmed gave awards to the students who got prominent positions. Vice Chancellor University of Health Sciences Lahore Professor Dr. Ahsan Waheed administered the oath to the graduating students. Special guest Khawaja Farooq Ahmed, Secretary Public Health, Vice Chancellors University of Health Sciences Lahore and Khyber Medical University Peshawar awarded degrees to the graduating students. Give, congratulated the students and paid tribute to their parents and teachers. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Senior Most Minister Khawaja Farooq Ahmed said that I will play my full role for the establishment of a medical university in Azad Kashmir, I will raise the matter in the cabinet regarding the establishment of a medical university. He said that I congratulate the graduating students, today these students are entering the practical life after completing their degrees, their parents and teachers deserve to be thanked for their success today. He said that students who complete MBBS should make service to the people as their motto and play their role in providing facilities to people without discrimination. On this occasion, Senior Most Minister Khawaja Farooq Ahmed, on behalf of Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan, announced 15 lakh rupees for the institution, saying that despite the limited resources, they will provide resources for the development of the medical sector in Azad Kashmir. Addressing the ceremony, Vice Chancellor University of Health Sciences Lahore Professor Ahsan Waheed said, “Congratulations to the graduating students, today they have become doctors and their responsibilities have also increased. It is a great honor to be a doctor. Graduate students have to maintain this honor and dignity and serve humanity without discrimination. He said that he will fully cooperate in the series of post graduate programs including nursing college in Azad Kashmir. Vice-Chancellor Khyber Medical University Peshawar Dr. Ziaul Haque said that the main role of the students graduating from here today is their parents and then their teachers. I will play my role to increase the allotted seats in medical post-graduation of Azad Kashmir, students of Azad Kashmir will be given forensic, medicine and other courses. Addressing the ceremony earlier, Principal Azad Jammu and Kashmir Medical College, Prof. Dr. Labat Hussain Bukhari, said that the institution has shown high performance after its establishment and this institution is far ahead in terms of educational standards. The government should cooperate for its establishment. He said that for the rehabilitation of the flood victims, this organization has built 25 houses in Dadu Sindh, constructed a road and a mosque in Dadu. He said that they are going to set up the first Kashmir forensic lab and genetic lab in Muzaffarabad. At the end of the convocation, Chief Guest Khawaja Farooq Ahmed, Secretary Public Health, Vice Chancellors University of Health Sciences Lahore and Khyber Medical University Peshawar also gave certificates of appreciation to the faculty members of the institution for their high performance.
