Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has approved setting the support price of wheat at Rs 3 thousand per maund in the province.
Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi chaired a meeting in which the Chief Minister expressed his anger at the attitude of the federal government for not providing wheat to Punjab.
Pervez Elahi said that the federal government is treating Punjab as a stepmother by not giving wheat, several lakh tons of wheat has been lost due to rains and floods in Punjab, there is a shortage of 10 lakh tons of wheat in the province, the exit routes of Punjab But effective steps should be taken to stop the smuggling of wheat and flour.
The Chief Minister approved setting the support price of wheat at 3 thousand rupees per maund and said that the federal government did not provide wheat despite the request of Punjab. Wheat and flour prices are still low in Punjab compared to other provinces.
The Punjab government has also decided to form a cabinet standing committee for wheat, the chief minister of Punjab will be the head of the committee.
