KABUL: The European Union (EU) has delivered 36 tonnes of relief supplies to the victims of the June 22 earthquake in Afghanistan drinking water supplies and sanitation items:
The supplies will be distributed through the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the World Health Organization (WHO) and the international aid organization MSF. In this regard, European Commissioner for Crisis Management Jens Lenarkech said that the European Union has sent this 20th flight to Kabul on humanitarian grounds, from widespread hunger in Afghanistan to a powerful earthquake affecting half the country’s population.
He added that the European Union stands with the Afghan people in this critical time by providing and increasing aid.
It should be noted that the recent earthquake in Afghanistan killed nearly a thousand people and injured more than 3,700. According to the European Union, 115 million euros have been allocated for various kinds of aid to Afghanistan during 2022.
