MUZAFFARABAD: The newly elected Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Abdul Qayyum Niazi arrived in Islamabad in a convoy of 21 vehicles after taking oath as the Prime Minister. It is to be noted that Abdul Qayyum Niazi is the 13th Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir.
Abdul Qayyum Niazi defeated the joint opposition candidate Chaudhry Latif Akbar and was elected as the Prime Minister. Akbar had got 15 votes. On the other hand, it has been decided to make former Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Barrister Sultan Mehmood Azad Kashmir. I was considered the strongest but Chairman PTI and Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan declared Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi as the most suitable for the post and made him the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir. Member Azad Kashmir Mubli was elected.
In the recent elections, he was elected Member Assembly from L. Athari Mirpur. It may be recalled that Barrister Sultan Mehmood had joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) five years ago. The post of Prime Minister was also fired.
