Muscat – Oman has announced a new initiative offering a free 10-day visa to passengers and crew members of maritime vessels visiting the Sultanate. This decision aims to boost tourism by encouraging more visitors to explore Oman.
Lieutenant General Hassan bin Mohsin al-Shuraiqi, Inspector General of Police and Customs, revealed the details of this new visa policy. The free visa is intended for tourists arriving on cruise ships and will facilitate their stay in Oman for up to 10 days.
The new policy includes amendments to certain provisions of the Executive Regulations of the Residency Law for foreigners. The changes are as follows:
– **10-Day Visa**: This visa will be issued upon request from the agent of the tourist ship and granted by the competent authority. It is valid for a stay of 10 days, with registration required within 30 days of visa issuance.
– **One-Month Visa**: For those wishing to visit Oman for tourism, a one-month visa can be obtained upon request from the tourist ship agent. Similar to the 10-day visa, registration must be completed within 30 days of issuance.
These changes are part of Oman’s efforts to enhance its tourism sector and attract more international visitors to the country.
