Rejects change of direction of Jhelum river

Do not recognize any agreement that led to the destruction of Muzaffarabad the capital city of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Article 52C of the Constitution of AJK obliges the government to present projects like the Kohala Hydropower Project in the Azad Jammu Kashmir Assembly. Despite the Shamail Commission report and the decision of the High Court, no work has been started on any project related to the Neelum River. The government and WAPDA are constantly working illegally and committing contempt of court. The Azad Jammu and Kashmir High Court have already issued contempt notices to the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider) and Chairman WAPDA.

These views were expressed by the leaders of the river rescue movement in a full press conference. In the press conference, Amjad Ali Khan Advocate, Shaukat Nawaz Mir, Abbas Qadri, Mahmood Baig, Faisal Jamil, Zaheer Mir, Zulfiqar Baig, Shahid Awan, Nazir Sheikh, Syed Naveed Shah, Raja Saeed, Yasir Gilani, Zahid Kazmi, Zulqarnain Jafri, Inam Bukhari, Umar Ahsan, Rashid Sheikh, Mudassar Mughal, Hafeez Hamdani, Shehzad Aslam, Adnan Gohar, Imran Pandit, Sikandar Mir, Waqar Kazmi, Haris Khan, Amir Mir, Khawaja Zeeshan, Noor Zaman, Khattab Shah participated. Amjad Ali Khan said that the governments of different countries think of the betterment of their people and future generations while our governments violate their own constitutions and laws.

The present Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir himself has included Article 52C in the Constitution and is himself violating it. The incumbent Prime Minister has said three times in the press that the course of the Jhelum River will not change, but now he himself is applauding the agreement on the Kohala hydropower project and describing its merits. To date, the government has not been able to implement the NOC of the Environmental Protection Agency on the Neelum River, which is not only a violation of the law but also a contempt of court. He said that “Darya Bachao” Tehreek rejects the change of direction of Jhelum River in the Kohala Hydropower Project and demands that all issues related to Neelum River be rectified. Residents of Muzaffarabad are not allowed to change the direction of Jhelum
