The United States has conducted a successful test flight of F-16 fighter jets controlled entirely by artificial intelligence (AI).
The test flight occurred at the renowned Edwards Air Force Base in California, known for its contributions to space research.
According to foreign media sources, US Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall was present aboard the experimental aircraft during the test flight.
Secretary Kendall emphasized the crucial role of artificial intelligence in modern military operations, stating that its absence poses a significant security risk that must be addressed.

Reports indicate that the AI-controlled F-16 achieved a speed of 550 miles per hour during the test flight. The preparations for this experimental endeavor had been underway for an extended period, with details kept under wraps until the successful completion of the test.
The US Air Force’s focus on advancing AI technology underscores its commitment to incorporating unmanned combat aircraft into its fleet.
Plans are underway to produce a batch of over 1,000 such unmanned aircraft by the year 2028, signaling a significant shift towards integrating AI capabilities into military operations.
