Captain Babar Azam had to be reminded that I am the captain after receiving a review from the Pakistani players in the Asia Cup Super Four stage match against Sri Lanka.
According to the ICC rules, if the umpire does not give an out on the appeal of the players, then the captain has the authority to take a review.
An interesting video of the match played between Pakistan and Sri Lanka last night is circulating on social media in which captain Babar Azam is reminding the field umpire and the players that he is the captain of the team after being ignored during the review.
What happened was that during Pakistan’s fielding in the 16th over, Hasan Ali’s ball was appealed for catch and wicketkeeper Muhammad Rizwan, along with the players, quickly signaled a review.
Field umpire Anil Chaudhry also asked the third umpire for a review before asking Babar Azam or any reaction from the national captain.
Seeing this, Babar surprisingly controlled his emotions and told him twice that ‘I am the captain’, during this incident Babar also had a slight smile on his face while Rizwan was also laughing.
Later, Babar Azam himself went to the umpire and asked him to take a review, but the review of the national team was lost.
During the match, memes were also created on this light-hearted comical moment, in which Babar Azam is being portrayed as an oppressed captain.
