Why is Indian captain Rohit Sharma not playing the match against Afghanistan?

Afghanistan won the toss and decided to field against India in the Super Four stage of the ongoing Asia Cup T20 tournament in the United Arab Emirates.

Afghanistan captain Muhammad Nabi won the toss and invited India to bat in the match being played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma is not playing the match against Afghanistan, vice-captain KL Rahul will lead the Indian team in his place.

On the occasion of the toss, KL Rahul said that Rohit Sharma is not available for today’s match, he is resting. Rohit wants to be completely fresh for the T20 World Cup.

3 changes have been made in the Indian team, Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya and Chahal are rested for the match against Afghanistan and they are replaced by Dinesh Karthik, Akshar Patel and Deepak Chahar.

It should be noted that Afghanistan and India are already out of the race for the finals.

Yesterday, Pakistan qualified for the final by defeating Afghanistan after an interesting match. With the victory of the green shirts, Sri Lanka also made it to the final with 4 points after winning both their matches in the Super Four stage.

India and Afghanistan had lost their respective matches in the Super Four stage.

The Asia Cup final will be played between Pakistan and Sri Lanka on September 11
