MUZAFFARBAD: Former head of the Women Commission of Pakistan (Azad Kashmir) and executive director of the Youth Forum for Kashmir, Maria Iqbal Tarana, has alleged that she was harassed by a protocol officer at a function at the Aiwan-e-Sadr yesterday:
Maria Iqbal Tarana has released a statement from her Twitter account that she was invited to a function at the Presidency yesterday where President Arif Alvi, Finance Minister Abdul Hafeez Sheikh and Governor SBP Raza Baqir were present.
During this time, a person would repeatedly approach them and try to talk in their ears, which would be tantamount to harassment. He said that during the ceremony, the man kept doing these things. After the ceremony, he asked who the man was, and instead of speaking politely, he was very rude and said that he had not been invited to the ceremony, that he had entered by force.
However, Maria said that she has reached here after passing four protocols. Besides, he has no right to adopt such an insulting tone. According to Maria, the man used to give his name as Afaq Ahmed and according to him he is a protocol officer. Maria Iqbal Tarana termed it as harassment and demanded an investigation into the matter.
At the end of his video message, he said that if the officer of Pakistan’s largest institution does not know how to treat women, then what can we expect from the rest. Remember that Maria Iqbal is the daughter of Pakistan She has also received awards.
