Long March Continues in Azad Jammu and Kashmir: Unrest and Negotiations

Rawalakot:The second day of the Long March by Pakistani subjugates in Jammu and Kashmir unfolds amidst escalating tensions, with the imposition of a curfew and shutdown entering its third day.

Caravans from Mirpur Division have reached their destination, with contingents from Abbaspur, Ghameer, Titri Note, and surrounding areas expected to arrive shortly. Additionally, groups from Plandri are anticipated to depart for Rawalakot soon.

In Rawalakot, citizens are gathering at the college ground in anticipation of the Long March participants’ arrival. It is projected that the caravans will reach Dheerkot by this evening, from where they will enter the Muzaffarabad Division tomorrow.

Communication challenges persist as internet services remain suspended, complicating interpersonal connections and updates on the situation. Journalists are also facing difficulties in providing field coverage.

Thousands of demonstrators have arrived from Mirpur Division, with the potential for a significant increase in numbers in Poonch.

While the Prime Minister has extended an offer for negotiations and assured acceptance of demands, there has been no contact with the committee thus far to confirm the same.

Commissioner Muzaffarabad has been tasked with coordinating the control of the Long March.

Tragically, a police officer lost his life due to gunfire during clashes, with over 70 police personnel and numerous protesters sustaining injuries.

Public unrest persists along the roads of Jammu and Kashmir, with the state’s authority nearly diminished.

Failure to address the demands could further escalate the situation in the region. The successful entry of these caravans into Muzaffarabad could potentially challenge the government’s control entirely.
