Bhimber: In a prelude to the scheduled long march on May 11, police conducted raids in all divisions of Bhimber AJK (Pakistan-administrred Jammu and Kashmir), apprehending multiple leaders of the Public Action Committee.

This has triggered a series of organized strikes in various markets across Bhimber AJK in protest against the arrests of trader leaders.

The Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee had announced the long march for May 11 to demand affordable electricity, but last night, police detained several leaders, including President of the Traders Association, Abid Islam.

Protests by traders against the arrest of leaders are ongoing in Choki and Jandala bazaars. Traders have gathered outside the local police station and initiated a shutter-down strike, demanding the release of the detained leaders.
