Pakistani Government Announces Arrest of Missing Kashmiri Poet and Journalist Ahmad Farhad

Bagh: Islamabad High Court, under the jurisdiction of Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani, conducted a hearing regarding the case of missing poet and journalist Ahmad Farhad.

The session included representation from Ahmad Farhad’s wife, Imaan Mazari, and Attorney General appearing on behalf of the Pakistan government.

During the hearing, Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan informed the Islamabad High Court that Ahmad Farhad has been apprehended and is currently under the custody of the Azad Kashmir Police.

A report from the Dhirkot Azad Kashmir police station was also presented to the court by the Attorney General.

It is important to note that poet Ahmad Farhad had gone missing from the federal Pakistan’s capital Islamabad fifteen days ago. In pursuit of his recovery, his wife Aruj Zainab had filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court.

The Islamabad High Court had set Friday, May 24, as the deadline for the recovery of Ahmad Farhad. However, despite the passage of this deadline without his recovery, the court had previously requested assistance from ISI and MI sector commanders during the last hearing.
