AJK Assembly Unanimously approved to Condemn Kunan Poshpora

MUZAFFARABAD: The meeting of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly held on Thursday under the chairmanship of Member Panel of Chairman Mian Abdul Waheed.

In the meeting, the resolution presented by the Leader of the Opposition Chaudhry Latif Akbar with reference to the Kunan Poshpora Kupwara incident on February 23, 1991, was unanimously approved by the House.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Senior Most Minister Khawaja Farooq Ahmed said that we Fully support this resolution, this resolution should be sent from the Assembly Secretariat to human rights institutions, organizations, and permanent members of the Security Council and other countries.

Speaking on this occasion, the Panel of Chairman Mian Abdul Waheed said that this resolution is very important.

 

The foundation of the state requires us not to forget the sacrifices of the people of Occupied Kashmir. He said that the Assembly Secretariat should arrange to send this contract to the Foreign Office and other forums.

Member of Assembly Sardar Javed Ayub said that the commission formed on the incident of February 23, 1991, had given a report, and the government of Pakistan had conveyed this report to the world.

 

Member of AJK Assembly Nabila Ayub said that since 1989, more than 11,000 women raped by the occupying Indian forces in Occupied Kashmir. Earlier, presenting the resolution, Leader of Opposition Chaudhry Latif Akbar said that on February 23, 1991, women were gang-raped in Kanan Pushpura Kupwara, which was strongly condemned by human rights organizations, but the perpetrators of this incident have not been caught yet.

 

This matter should be taken up at the level of the Ministry of External Affairs and the incident should be investigated. Opposition Leader and Chairman Committee Chaudhry Latif Akbar presented the report of the Special Committee regarding the construction of the Legislative Assembly Complex in the House.

 

In this regard, the Prime Minister of Pakistan has also given an assurance. In this regard, I suggest that a delegation consisting of government and opposition members should go to Islamabad and talk to the relevant authorities in this regard. Finally, the Member Panel of Chairman Mian Abdul Waheed adjourned the meeting of the Legislative Assembly on 06th March till 11 am.
