Srinagar, June 7 (Azadi Times) The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday questioned prominent religious Kashmiri scholar and Rector of Madrasa Darul Uloom Rahimiya, Maulana Rehmatullah Qasmi, in connection with a case related to the alleged funding activities of Al-Hadi Education Trust (AHET) in Rajouri.
Azadi Times News Network, the NIA summoned Maulana Qasmi a Kashmiri scholar to appear at its camp office in Srinagar. He appeared before the NIA officials and was questioned for several hours.
The NIA had raided Maulana Qasmi’s house in Bandipora in October last year. About a week before this raid, he had held a press conference against the government’s order to force students to sing Hindu hymns in schools in Occupied Kashmir.
The NIA is investigating the alleged funding activities of Al-Hadi Education Trust, which is said to be linked to Maulana Qasmi. The trust is accused of receiving funds from foreign sources and using them for anti-India activities.
Maulana Qasmi has denied all the allegations against him. He has said that he is being targeted by the Indian government for his religious and political views.
The questioning of Maulana Qasmi by the NIA has drawn widespread condemnation from the people of Kashmir. They have accused the Indian government of harassing and targeting religious scholars and activists in the region.
