Woking’s Mayor Leads Delegation to Azad Kashmir’s Scenic Neelum Valley

Muzaffarabad: (Azadi Times), A delegation from Azad Kashmir, under the leadership of the Mayor of Woking Surrey, Raja Muhammad Ilyas, has arrived in Muzaffarabad to embark on a picturesque tour of Neelum Valley. The delegation comprises prominent individuals from various walks of life, residing in the United Kingdom but with strong connections to Azad Kashmir.

During an interview with senior journalist Abdul Wahid Kayani in Muzaffarabad, Mayor Raja Muhammad Alias expressed the deep-rooted affection of overseas Pakistanis for their homeland. He emphasized their commitment to contributing to the progress of Pakistan.

The primary objective of the recent visit to Azad Kashmir, particularly Neelum Valley, is to showcase the natural beauty to overseas residents, encouraging them to explore the region and promote economic activities.

Mayor Iylias noted that overseas Pakistanis are closely tied to their homeland and endeavor to play their part in Pakistan’s development. The current tour of Azad Kashmir aims to acquaint foreign-based Pakistanis with the breathtaking landscapes and business opportunities available in the region. It seeks to boost local tourism and enhance economic prospects for the people.

Discussing the purpose of their visit, Mayor Raja Muhammad Iylias highlighted the need to address rising temperatures in Muzaffarabad and surrounding areas. He stressed the importance of measures to mitigate the effects of climate change.

The delegation also raised concerns about water scarcity in the Neelum Valley and recent incidents of children drowning in the river. They inquired about the steps taken to prevent such tragedies in the future and addressed issues related to frequent power outages.
