Islamabad (Dharti News) President Dr. Arif Alvi approved the summary sent by the Army Chief and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee on behalf of the Prime Minister. held a meeting and signed the summary after considering the constitutional points, after which Lt. Gen. Sahir Shamshad Mirza was appointed as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and Lt. Gen. Syed Asim Munir as the Chief of Army Staff, the notification of which to the Ministry After the approval of the President, the summary will be received by the Prime Minister House, after which the official notification of the appointment of the Army Chief and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee will be issued by the Ministry of Defense. Earlier, the prime minister decided to promote Lt. Gen. Sahir Shamshad Mirza to the rank of general and appoint Lt. Gen. Syed Asim Munir as the chief of the army staff and sent the summary to the president’s office for approval. Lt Gen Asim Munir passed out from Mangala Training School and got commissioned in the Frontier Force Regiment in the Army. Lt Gen Asim Munir is an excellent officer, he has been a close associate of the present Chief of Army Staff ever since. As a Brigadier under General Bajwa, he commanded troops in Force Command Northern Areas where General Qamar Javed Bajwa was then Commander X Corps. He was made the chief, but he held this position for a short period. After heading the ISI, Lt. Gen. Asim Munir was posted as Corps Commander Gujranwala and two years later he was posted as Quartermaster General at GHQ and is still serving in the same post. Lieutenant General Asim Munir will be the first Army Chief who has served in Military Intelligence and ISI, General Asim Munir is the first Army Chief to be awarded the Sword of Honour. As Lt. Col. Asim Munir memorized the Holy Quran during his deployment in Madinah Munawara. Lt. Gen. Asim Munir belongs to this course of OTS which is junior from 75th Long Course and senior from 76th Long Course. He was promoted along with the existing Corps Commander Lahore, Mangala, DGSPD and IGT&E in October 2018. However, he applied the rank with a delay of about one and a half months due to which his retirement date is even later than his juniors. Lt. Gen. Asim Munir is not a graduate of Pakistan Military Academy but he got commissioned in Frontier Force Regiment of Army from Officers Training School. If we look at the record of past army chiefs and the assignments of these generals, it will be known that almost all the officers of this course have a strong profile.
