During today’s hearing on the electricity issue, the court emphasized the gravity of the situation, highlighting the need for immediate legislative action.
The government has been directed to inform the AJK high court within the stipulated time frame regarding the formulation of laws concerning electricity taxes. Failure to comply with this directive will result in the court taking necessary legal action.
The Advocate General representing the AJK government, along with the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, appeared before the court during the proceedings.
The court’s directive underscores the urgency of addressing the concerns related to electricity taxes, which have been a point of contention in recent times.
Furthermore, the court has extended its scrutiny to include delays in the construction of infrastructure projects such as the Ruthoa-Haryam Bridge and compensation issues.
The judiciary’s proactive stance reflects its commitment to ensuring accountability and transparency in governmental affairs.
The government now faces a crucial deadline to enact legislation on electricity taxes, failing which it may face legal repercussions from the court.
