Direction to establish technology zone in Gilgit

PM directed to set up a special technology zone in Gilgit. Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid and Chairman Special Technology Zone Authority (STZA) called on the Prime Minister:


On this occasion, the Prime Minister created employment opportunities for the youth. He directed to set up a special technology zone in Gilgit. The Prime Minister also directed Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid to complete the ongoing development projects in the province as soon as possible.


Talking to Khalid Khurshid, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that by setting up a technology zone in Gilgit-Baltistan, ample employment opportunities could be created for the people. Ongoing development projects to raise living standards and stabilize the economy need to be completed soon, with the completion of important projects the region will develop. Prime Minister Imran Khan directed to digitize Lahore land records as soon as possible. 


He said that vertical housing in the form of high-rise buildings is a priority of the government, which will not only meet the housing needs of the rapidly growing population but also ensure efficient use of urban land as per digitalized cadastral mapping, details said on Thursday. 


A meeting of the National Coordinating Committee for Housing, Construction and Development was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday. 


Baqir, Chairman New Pakistan Housing and Development Authority Lt Gen (retd) Anwar Ali Haider and other concerned senior officers, in a briefing on the ongoing cadastral mapping exercise in Lahore, informed the Prime Minister that the project is on track and will be completed by November 15 this year. 


He directed the Prime Minister to focus on the completion of digitization of Lahore land records as soon as possible so that a common man can get relief against land grabbing mafia and encroachments. 


The Prime Minister was informed that the Ministry of Housing and Works is constructing 86323 housing units with a total cost of Rs. 463 billion. Under its various projects, construction activities in the country are rapidly creating more than 2 lakh jobs, economic activities worth more than Rs 2314 billion will be created. The Prime Minister reiterated that vertical housing in the form of tall buildings is a priority of the government. 

It will not only meet the housing needs of the rapidly growing population but also ensure efficient use of urban land in accordance with digitalized cadastral mapping.
