Don’t be fooled by “B”. By Abid Siddiq

When I studied Qaida at home and went to school, Ustani Sahiba took my test and asked a single question that from “B”. Even if the phrase was not memorized, it was not forgotten at that time because in the vicinity we always came face to face with goats which were reared with great passion at that time. Well, the compilers of the rule chose the right word for the time because it was an animal that we could see and recognize. So this process of learning, teaching was very good. What you recognize, when you know its name, it is easy to understand. In Pakistan in 1985, when the government of Muhammad Khan Junejo came to power, they established “New Light” schools (adult education) in various villages of Pakistan, including some villages of Azad Kashmir. The process of teaching people to read and write began. These schools will be set up in the same buildings of ordinary government schools where evening classes were held. The real problem was to fulfill the number of “students” in these schools. Often the teachers would enroll some “elders” or distant relatives of their families in these schools so that the required number could be met and the justification for the existence of these schools would also be maintained. Because the government of Pakistan had fixed a limit of “students”. A friend of mine somehow ended up in charge of teachers in one of those schools. When I met him on the road, I asked about the status of the school running under him. He started saying that a stage has been decided, that the required number has been completed, but a lot of effort has to be done. On my questioning again, he gave an interesting answer Narrated the incident. They said, “In the curriculum of Nai Roshni School, it is written as “Lata” with “L”, but the “senior students” of our school read “Karawa” with “L”, because we also show them examples of things called by this word. . We explain to them a lot that it is “loota” but they don’t believe. It is said that Grandma John had told that it was “done”. Thus, the teachers have to give up by saying, “Let’s do it” (in the Pahari language, “doing” is called looting). I remembered this incident about 10 years ago when I was studying in a private school. The child in the group saw the “dog” and shouted that it was a “goat”. The person standing nearby tried to explain to him that it was a dog, but he was not ready to believe because he thought that my teacher had called it a “goat”. The signs mentioned are often found in this animal. For example, four legs, tail, big ears, etc., but after explaining for a while, he understood that it is not a goat, but a dog is also like a goat.
The purpose of narrating this story is that 50 years ago goat was taught by “B”, so it was reasonable that at that time goat was important and common children had access to it, but now the majority of children are taught in this way. Things are not even seen. So what will be the result of teaching children the same word for 50 years? This was an example of a “b” meaning that all the alphabets of the rule need to be changed every year, which could not be worked out. Every year, when the children who read a new word from “B” used to exchange words among themselves, they would come to know many new words. In this way, the original meaning of being taught fruit from “S” would also be clear. There is a big lack of curriculum, a child learning three languages at the age of four is actually being kept away from the mother tongue as well as Urdu. Nothing is being achieved by feeding all the languages by making a mixture of them. One language should be taught slowly one by one. Which language is needed according to the age, just like the dose of medicine is from minimum to maximum.
We all learn languages and none of them are proficient, instead mother tongue should be introduced till primary level followed by Urdu and then English or other languages.
When this same child, caught in the tangle of different languages, gets a Grade 17 job in the same state in practical life, what “note” will he write on the official letter in which this text is written: The matter should be sorted out and the report should be sent to the higher authorities within seven days.
Our tragedy is that we have focused on the present instead of the past or the future. We don’t really know what the child is being taught and what should be taught, many parents are naming the books based on their “values”. For example, “that blue book with 550 is”, but if we look at the reality, it is less the fault of the parents and more of the educational institutions. has chosen the curriculum. The teachers (male and female) teaching in these institutions write the page number of the book on the children’s diary in “English” and send the children away with the will that “Remember to come tomorrow”. Parents have no option to change schools because they are all the same, like “Bata” and “Service” the brands of the schools have become the identity of the children. A huge revolution is needed within the educational institutions. No more degrees. “Skills” are in demand. Multinational companies, global organizations now prefer your “skills” not degrees for jobs. Private educational institutions including public educational institutions and universities should plan to implement reforms with time. Once upon a time, Khawaja Moinuddin used to play a drama written by Khawaja Moinuddin in the name of Education Balgaan, whose one sentence, “If you put “Wow” behind education, then you will become the Minister of Education” reflects today’s education system. Now the time has come to give up the method of making fools of “B” and give fruit with “S” otherwise all the obstacles on the way to ignorance will disappear automatically.
