Muzaffarabad (PID) 04 November 2021 A seminar was organized in the capital Muzaffarabad under the auspices of the National Commission for the Dignity of Women in connection with the 16-day campaign to end violence against women:


The seminar was attended by Chairperson National Commission for the Dignity of Women Ms. Nelufar Bakhtiar, Members of Assembly Ms. Kausar Taqdis Gilani and Ms. Nisar Abbasi, Secretary Information and Information Technology Ms. Madhat Shehzad, Chairman State Commission for the Dignity of Women Ms. Tehmina Sadiq and others. 


Chairman Prime Minister’s Inspection and Implementation Commission Raja Mansoor was also present in the seminar. Suggestions were also sought from the participants for empowering women and preventing violence against women. 


Addressing the seminar, Chairperson National Commission for the Dignity of Women Ms. Nelufar Bakhtiar said that for providing equal opportunities to women in the society. We have to unite beyond race, politics and other affiliations. Women have to show themselves very strong. He said that we are working for the rights of women and giving them a dignified place in the society. 


The 16-day campaign to end violence against women has started in Azad Kashmir. The Women Commission will work closely with Azad Kashmir. He said that in a meeting with the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir yesterday, he assured the establishment of offices in five districts of Azad Kashmir which did not have offices of Women Development Department. Azad Kashmir is taking keen interest in the development of women. Women police stations are being set up in Azad Kashmir, which is a good move. 


Women will provide furniture in police stations. Khabir is also working in Pakhtunkhwa, FATA and Balochistan on a priority basis. Harnai will help the earthquake victims in Balochistan. He said that woman is a friend of woman, I stand for the rights of every woman. They have also made Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan part of the 16-day campaign to end violence against women. He said that a women’s chamber would be set up in Azad Kashmir. 


According to the status given to women by Islam, I will play my full role in giving women a place in the society. Addressing the seminar, Secretary Information and Information Technology Ms. Madhat Shehzad said that we all have to raise our voice against Indian atrocities on women and children in occupied Kashmir. He said that Digital Kashmir is the vision of IT Board, Information Technology Board is connecting all police stations of Azad Kashmir with IG office through digital system. 


Forty-six police stations have been connected to the digital system. He said that the IT board is also working on an online FIR system. The IT Board has launched a telemedicine project under which anyone from any part of Azad Kashmir can seek guidance / advice from a doctor through an app.


Chairperson National Commission for the Dignity of Women Ms. Nelufar Bakhtiar, Members of the Assembly Ms. Kausar Taqdis Gilani and Ms. Nisar Abbasi, Secretary Information and Information Technology Ms. Madhat Shehzad, Chairman State Commission for the Dignity of Women Ms. Tehmina Sadiq also answered the questions of the participants. Later talking to the media, Chairperson National Commission for the Dignity of Women Ms. 


Nelufar Bakhtiar said that the National Commission for the Dignity of Women is working to prevent violence against women across the country and provide them equal opportunities in all walks of life. Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan have also been included in the fight against violence against women. In Pakistan, the campaign has been launched from Azad Kashmir. 


He said that at present the most victims of violence are the women of Occupied Kashmir who are facing the worst oppression by the Indian forces. He said that crime rate in Azad Kashmir is very low and literacy rate is high. 


Social welfare and women development are working for the betterment of women here. I myself have also removed the refugee camp and jail in Muzaffarabad. The best work is being done to make women skilled in the refugee camps. He said that media should support us in stopping violence against women.
