Many people are not familiar with the flag of Jammu and Kashmir, most of them consider the flag of Pakistan-administered Kashmir to be the flag of entire Kashmir.
Before August 5, 2019, Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir also had its own flag, which was completely different from the flag of Azad Kashmir.
On August 5, 2019, when the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party government in India abrogated Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, it also removed the flag of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir.
In 1947, when the state of Jammu and Kashmir was occupied by India and Pakistan, the Line of Control was established in the middle of the entire state, after which Kashmir was divided into two parts, one part with India and the other with Pakistan.
Just like the land division in Jammu and Kashmir, there was a political and ideological division as a result of which the political leadership of the two regions made their own separate flags.
The flag of the state of Jammu and Kashmir is yellow. Before 1947, the same flag was hoisted in the entire state of Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Ladakh.
