Local body elections, commissioners of all three divisions agreed to conduct elections without security

Muzaffarabad (PID) Chief Election Commissioner Azad Jammu and Kashmir Justice Retired Abdul Rasheed Salharia chaired a meeting of commissioners regarding the review of security arrangements during the municipal elections. Senior Member Election Commission Raja Muhammad Farooq Niaz, Secretary Election Commission Muhammad Ghazanfar Khan and Commissioner Muzaffarabad Division Masoodul Rahman participated in the meeting while Commissioner Poonch Division Ansar Yaqub and Commissioner Mirpur Division Shaukat Ali participated in the meeting through video link. In the meeting, the arrangements for local body elections were reviewed and various suggestions were also presented on behalf of the commissioners. The commissioners of the three divisions while giving a briefing to the Election Commission regarding the arrangements for peace and order during the polling and coordination and peace committees said that the administration is ready for the elections to be held on November 27 as per the instructions of the Election Commission, referring to the coordination and peace committees. Advance steps have been taken by the administration and in this regard the local administration has completed its homework in respect of almost all the polling stations. The Chief Election Commissioner while addressing the meeting said that the polling has to be held on November 27 anyway, the government has assured the provision of security forces. In this regard, a plan should be formulated keeping in mind the available security forces, the divisional commissioners should submit their recommendations in this regard before the meeting on November 21. They directed the administration to resolve any possible issue in view of the polling process. Plan ahead. Addressing the meeting, the senior member of the Election Commission appreciated the arrangements made by the commissioners of the three divisions and said that all the necessary resources have been provided by the Election Commission for the peaceful conduct of the elections. All the arrangements are also complete. He said that the commissioners should submit the arrangements and recommendations in this regard to the commission before Monday’s meeting so that the arrangements can be finalized in Monday’s meeting.
