Neelum Valley: Heroic Rescue Operation Recovers 8 Bodies from Neelum River

Neelum Valley, Azad Jammu and Kashmir – June 13, 2024: In a harrowing three-day rescue operation in Neelum Valley, the State Disaster Management Authority’s water rescue team, Rescue 1122, and the DDMA Neelum successfully recovered a vehicle that had plunged into the Neelum River, along with the bodies of 8 tourists who had been inside.

The collaborative effort between the rescue teams and volunteers from the Sharda Tao Butt was crucial in carrying out this difficult operation. Tariq Mumtaz, Director General of Rescue 1122, oversaw the ongoing rescue efforts.

However, the real heroes of this tragedy are the rescuers who braved the powerful currents and frigid waters of the Neelum River to recover the victims. Their bravery and commitment in the face of such a devastating incident is truly commendable.
