Rains continue in Doda district, floods in rivers and canals Dozens of temporary bridges and trails were destroyed, the agricultural sectors.
Azadi Times as per the forecast of Meteorological Department, heavy rains continued till noon in Doda district on Sunday as a result of which the water level in the rivers has increased and the connecting roads have become dilapidated.
District Administration While issuing an advisory, people have been requested not to go near rivers and power transmission systems. Due to the formation of deep puddles on the under-construction Thathri-Doda highway, rain and flood water has accumulated in places due to which the passengers faced a lot of trouble in traveling.
Due to frequent rains in Doda, Bhadrwah, Thathri, Gundoh Bhalisa, Cairo, Bunjawa and other suburbs, crops and fruit trees and agricultural sector have been heavily damaged, while at many places the water level in the rivers and canals has increased and the trails have been damaged. Temporary bridges were swept away by floods and water and electricity transmission systems were also affected.
BDC Chairman Kaira Fatima Chaudhry, BDC Chairman Chili Makho Chaudhry and DDC Councilor Mohammad Iqbal Kohli have demanded the government to estimate the damages caused by the rains and provide reasonable financial assistance to the affected families. He has also stressed on the restoration of water, electricity and road connections on an emergency basis.
