Controversy Surrounds Muzaffarabad Press Club Management in AJK
Muzaffarabad (Azadi Times): The High Court of Azad Kashmir has suspended the administration of the historic Central Press Club Muzaffarabad Jammu and Kashmir State in response to a petition filed by government employees of Pakistan’s official news agencies, APP and PTV.
The decision comes after the High Court intervened in the aftermath of elections held last December for the central council of the Muzaffarabad Press Club, which is considered one of the most reputable journalistic institutions on both sides of the Line of Control.
Employees of APP and government TV channels in Muzaffarabad have demanded representation in the Press Club’s membership and voting rights. They argue that they should be recognized as members and given the right to vote in the Press Club elections.

This move follows a similar action taken two years ago when the administration of the Press Club in Srinagar was suspended after a controversy erupted. It marks the first time that the highest judiciary has taken notice of internal matters of a journalistic institution in Pakistan-administered Kashmir.
