On the anniversary, Kashmiris held protests across the region, calling for the restoration of their special status and demanding that their democratic and constitutional rights be respected. In Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir, protesters clashed with security forces, resulting in several injuries.

In a statement, the J&K Awami-e-Tehreek, a Kashmiri political party, said that the August 5th decision was “a day of injustice” and that the Kashmiri people would never forget it. The party said that it still had hope that the Supreme Court of India would restore their rights.

The J&K Awami-e-Tehreek also called for peace and stability in Kashmir, but said that it should be a “realistic” peace, not one that is used as a “propaganda tool” to gain votes. The party said that the current situation in Kashmir is far from peaceful, with frequent protests and clashes between security forces and civilians.

The J&K Awami-e-Tehreek also expressed concern about the lack of employment opportunities in Kashmir. The party said that it has been five years since the August 5th decision, and there has still been no election in the region. This means that Kashmiris have not had a chance to elect their own representatives, who could address the region’s economic and social problems.

The protests on Friday are a reminder that the August 5th decision is still a source of anger and resentment among many Kashmiris. It remains to be seen whether the Supreme Court will be able to resolve the situation and restore peace and stability to the region.
