Kashmir Erupts in Protest as Leader Calls for Strike Against Modi’s “Insensitive Visit”

MUZAFFARABAD, Azad Jammu and Kashmir – A prominent Kashmiri leader has ignited a wave of protest across the region, calling for a complete strike and Black Day observance to condemn Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Kashmir.

Chaudhry Naeem Akhtar, a respected figure in the Kashmiri struggle, denounced Modi’s visit as a blatant disregard for the suffering of Kashmiris, comparing it to “adding insult to injury.”

He described the visit as exceeding “all bounds of decency” and urged Kashmiris to express their outrage through a widespread strike and demonstrations featuring black flags.

Akhtar highlighted the escalating tensions and suppression of dissent by Indian forces in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, marked by continuous raids and sieges. He vehemently criticized Modi’s attempt to portray a false sense of normalcy in the region, labeling it a “deceptive ploy” aimed at misleading the international community.

With unwavering determination, Akhtar emphasized the unwavering resolve of Kashmiris in their pursuit of independence. He declared their unwavering commitment to their freedom struggle until it reaches its rightful conclusion and urged the international community to intervene.

Akhtar challenged the justifications used for India’s military presence and harsh actions in Kashmir, which often cite law and order concerns or land disputes. He countered these claims by accusing India of aiming to stifle dissent and silence the voices of peace-loving Kashmiris in the occupied territory.

As evidence of ongoing human rights violations, Akhtar pointed to the continuous arrests and harassment of Kashmiri youth by Indian authorities. He implored the United Nations and its Security Council to uphold their responsibility towards the internationally recognized right of Kashmiris to self-determination.

Akhtar concluded by urging the international community to exert pressure on India to withdraw from occupied Jammu and Kashmir and facilitate a solution to the Kashmir dispute that reflects the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
