Tragedy Strikes on Wedding Eve: Two Sisters Die After Allegedly Consuming Poison in Jodhpur, India

Jodhpur, India — A joyful household in the village of Minai, located in Jodhpur, turned into mourning when two sisters allegedly ingested a toxic substance and lost their lives on the eve of their weddings.

According to local media reports, the family was busy with wedding preparations when the tragic incident occurred. The sisters, 25-year-old Shobha and 23-year-old Vimla, were scheduled to be married on Saturday, and celebrations at their home continued until late Friday night.

Authorities stated that the sisters had gone to their room late at night to sleep when their health suddenly deteriorated around 4 a.m. Family members rushed them to a private hospital, but doctors declared them dead upon arrival. Their bodies were later brought back home, and preparations for the final rites began.

The police arrived at the scene and halted the last rites, transferring the bodies to the mortuary for post-mortem examinations. According to Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Roshan Meena, preliminary investigations suggest that the sisters may have consumed a poisonous substance, but the exact cause of death will only be confirmed after the post-mortem reports.

Police further confirmed that no suicide note has been recovered from the scene so far, and the investigation into the circumstances of their deaths is ongoing.
