Kashmiri Student Leader Appears for Exam in Handcuffs, Exposing Pakistan’s Hypocrisy on Freedom

Muzaffarabad: Khawaja Mujtaba Banday the President of Jammu Kashmir National Student Federation, a prominent student organization in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, was forced to appear for an exam with handcuffs on. This disturbing event has raised questions about the state of freedom and human rights in Pakistan-administered Kashmir.

The student leader, who has been in police custody for nearly 15 days, was arrested on February 11, allegedly for participating in events marking the martyrdom anniversary of Kashmiri freedom fighters.

Despite being briefly released, he was rearrested shortly after, sparking widespread protests and demands for his release from various parts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The fact that the student leader was not granted bail and was instead forced to appear for the exam in handcuffs is a stark reminder of the restrictions on freedom and expression in Pakistan-administered Kashmir. This incident has exposed the hypocrisy of Pakistan’s claims of supporting Kashmiri freedom, while in reality, suppressing the voices of those who dare to speak out.

The Jammu Kashmir National Student Federation has been actively campaigning for the release of their leader, with protests and demonstrations taking place across various cities in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

As the international community watches, it is imperative that Pakistan is held accountable for its actions and ensures that the fundamental rights of Kashmiris are respected and protected.
