Former Azad Kashmir PM Farooq Haider Khan Calls for New Approach to Kashmir Issue

Muzaffarabad, June 8, 2023: — (Azadi Times) Former Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider Khan called for a new approach to the Kashmir issue at the Kashmir Literary Festival in Muzaffarabad on Saturday.

Khan said that the traditional method of diplomacy is not working and that Pakistan needs to come up with a new strategy to counter India’s “horrifying plan” to usurp Kashmir.

“The policymakers of Pakistan need to realize that the traditional method of diplomacy is not working,” Khan said. “They need to come up with new ideas and adopt a new policy that will be accepted at the international level.”

Khan also said that the government of Pakistan should facilitate the Azad Kashmir government in presenting the case of Kashmir at the international level.

“The entire state of Jammu and Kashmir including Gilgit-Baltistan is a unity,” Khan said. “Any decision about its future should be according to the will of the people of this region.”

Khan’s speech was well-received by the audience, which included a large number of people from civil society and other schools of thought.

The Kashmir issue is a complex one, and there is no easy solution. However, Farooq Haider Khan’s speech is a reminder that Pakistan needs to find a new way to approach the issue if it is to achieve a lasting solution.
