MUZAFFARABAD, Pakistan-administered Kashmir — A Pakistan Army Aviation MI-17 helicopter crashed near Muzaffarabad on Wednesday after reportedly suffering a technical malfunction during takeoff, killing all personnel on board, according to a statement issued by the military’s media wing.

The military statement said the helicopter went down shortly after takeoff due to a technical fault. While confirming that no one on board survived the crash, authorities did not immediately disclose the number of personnel who were killed.

In its statement, the military said senior officials, including the Chief of Army Staff, the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, and members of the armed forces, expressed grief over the loss of life and extended condolences to the families of those killed.

Separately, Muzaffarabad Deputy Commissioner Munir Ahmed confirmed to local media that a helicopter crash had occurred in the district. However, he said authorities were still assessing the situation and that additional details were not immediately available.

The incident has drawn widespread attention across Pakistan-administered Kashmir, where residents and officials are awaiting further information regarding the identities of those killed and the findings of the forthcoming investigation.
