Air India Passenger Jet Crashes Near Ahmedabad Airport, Fears of Mass Casualties

Ahmedabad, India – June 12, 2025: A tragic aviation disaster unfolded near Ahmedabad Airport on Thursday as an Air India passenger aircraft crashed shortly before its scheduled landing. The Indian federal health minister has expressed grave concerns, warning of potential mass casualties resulting from the incident.

According to Reuters, the aircraft was carrying a total of 242 individuals, including 169 Indian nationals, 53 British citizens, 7 Portuguese nationals, and 1 Canadian. The flight crew included two pilots and ten cabin crew members, as confirmed by India’s Ministry of Civil Aviation.

Indian news networks were the first to report the crash, which occurred in the western Indian state of Gujarat. Initial visuals from the crash site show extensive wreckage and emergency services battling the aftermath. As of now, there is no official confirmation on the number of fatalities, but authorities fear a significant death toll.
