Delimitation, Boycotts, & Controversies

The 2024 Jammu & Kashmir Assembly elections followed the 2019 reorganization and delimitation of constituencies. Many political parties from both sides of the Line of Control boycotted the polls, rejecting their legitimacy. The elections were conducted under Indian and Pakistani constitutional frameworks, which many Kashmiris do not accept. Voter turnout varied amid complex political realities. These elections remain contested and politically sensitive.

Electoral Overview

The 2024 Jammu & Kashmir Assembly elections were the first after the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019. These polls followed the region’s reorganization and delimitation. Many political parties from both sides boycotted the elections, rejecting their legitimacy under Indian or Pakistani constitutions.
