Barar Kot Incident: Pakistan Police Register FIR Against Kashmiri Women

Muzzaffarabad – A shocking incident at the Bararkot checkpoint has ignited public outrage after a police officer from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) slapped a Kashmiri woman, allegedly over a simple question about a fine. The incident, which occurred on the previous day, has led to protests and demands for accountability.

According to reports, the KP police personnel slapped the woman after she questioned the imposition of a hefty fine of 10,000 rupees for a minor issue. The woman, in an attempt to understand the reason for the fine, was met with violence instead of an explanation.

Following this incident, residents of Muzzaffarabad and surrounding areas gathered at the Bararkot checkpoint to express their anger. In an unprecedented move, the locals blocked the entry point, demanding legal action against the police officer responsible for the assault. The protesters further demanded that the officer be made to apologize to the woman and that disciplinary actions be taken against him.

In a symbolic act of justice, the public called for the police personnel to be brought before the woman, who would have the opportunity to slap him in return as a form of retribution. The demand for justice echoed throughout the region, with many citizens expressing their discontent over what they described as the “unprovoked” assault on a woman by an officer of the law.

As a result of the public outcry, the checkpoint was temporarily closed, leading to significant disruptions for travelers. The situation only resolved when the authorities agreed to reopen the checkpoint after promising that the police personnel would be held accountable for his actions.

However, in a bizarre twist, the police officer reportedly filed a case against the public, claiming that his reputation had been tarnished. He allegedly complained that his personal videos had been leaked online, and that his honor had been compromised by the viral footage of the incident.

The officer, who had no regard for the dignity of a Kashmiri woman when he slapped her, now seems to be concerned about his own image. This has led to further outrage, with many calling out the officer for his hypocrisy. Public sentiments are clear: respect and accountability should be mutual, and no one, regardless of their position, should be above the law.

This incident is yet another reminder of the simmering tensions between the local population and external authorities in Jammu and Kashmir. The treatment of Kashmiris by security forces has long been a subject of debate, and this incident is likely to spark further discussions about the need for reform and accountability in law enforcement agencies.

Authorities are now under pressure to ensure that justice is served, and that such incidents are not repeated. The people of Kashmir are calling for better treatment, respect for women, and a thorough investigation into the actions of the police officer involved.
