Saiyan Sakhi Saheli Sarkar is among the esteemed Sufi saints who championed the message of love, peace, and humanity. Historical records trace his origins to the 19th century. His given name was Syed Zulfiqar, and as documented in Tazkira-e-Auliya-e-Kashmir, he hailed from Gurdaspur in present-day India. Around 1890, he journeyed to Muzaffarabad via the Hazara region while in a state of spiritual ecstasy. The local populace affectionately conferred upon him the titles “Sakhi” (generous) and “Saheli” (companion), reflecting his boundless generosity and empathetic companionship with those in need.
