The probe was initiated after the Ministry of Defense received an audio recording from an unknown number two days ago, alerting authorities to the potential disruption.
The threatening audio message claimed that supporters of Sikh preacher Amrit Pal Singh plan to occupy Pragati Maidan, the venue of the G20 summit, and hoist the Khalistani flag in place of the Indian flag. The recording also contained abusive remarks directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
The audio was brought to the attention of authorities by a passenger who received the message while boarding a flight from Delhi airport. Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) and are actively working to trace the origin of the audio clip and apprehend those responsible.
