Advocate Nabila Irshad was reportedly taken from her Islamabad residence, while police raided the Rawalpindi home of vlogger and activist Azra Alam, according to family and local reports.
Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Party Chairperson and lawyer Nabila Irshad was reportedly detained by police from her residence in Islamabad late last night, while security personnel also raided the Rawalpindi home of vlogger and activist Azra Alam.
According to Wajid Ali, the husband of Nabila Irshad, a police contingent—including female officers arriving in two vehicles—entered their residence and took her away.
Authorities had previously placed Nabila Irshad's name on Schedule Four alongside numerous other individuals following directives from the interior department.
During ongoing political tensions in the region, Nabila Irshad has actively pursued dialogue-based resolutions to regional grievances. Her efforts included meetings with leadership from the Joint Awami Action Committee as well as major political figures in Pakistan.
Specific legal grounds for the detention, her current whereabouts, and official details regarding the reported raid on Azra Alam's residence remain unconfirmed as further details are awaited.
Respect for the rule of law and fundamental civic rights requires that the grounds for any detention be formally disclosed, detainees be granted due legal access, and families be informed promptly. Authorities have yet to issue a comprehensive official statement clarifying the legal basis for these actions.
