JKJAAC Alleges Property Damage and Looting During Crackdown Ahead of Kashmir Protest
MUZAFFARABAD — The Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JKJAAC) has alleged that security forces carried out raids on businesses and residential areas, causing damage to private property and violating the rights of civilians in parts of Pakistan-administered Kashmir.
In a statement published on social media, JKJAAC core member Umar Nazir Kashmiri accused authorities of using force against peaceful citizens and claimed that shops belonging to local traders had been broken into, with food items, jewelry, and cash reportedly taken during operations.

The allegations emerge amid growing tensions surrounding the rights movement in the region and calls for public mobilization ahead of planned demonstrations in Muzaffarabad.
According to the statement, the group’s dispute with the ruling authorities stems from what it describes as long-standing concerns over governance, resource allocation, and economic rights. JKJAAC further alleged that state institutions are being used to suppress dissent and discourage public participation in ongoing protest activities.
The organization also claimed that residential properties had been entered during security operations and that the privacy and dignity of households had been compromised. These allegations have not been independently verified by The Azadi Times, and no official response from the authorities was immediately available at the time of publication.
JKJAAC called on the authorities to avoid actions that could further escalate tensions and urged decision-makers to address what it described as the legitimate and peaceful demands of the public.
The latest accusations come as rights activists and political groups continue to debate governance, economic conditions, and public representation in Pakistan-administered Kashmir. Observers note that the region has witnessed several waves of public protests in recent years, particularly around issues related to inflation, electricity tariffs, and access to local resources.
As of publication, independent confirmation of the allegations remains unavailable, and authorities have not publicly commented on the specific claims raised by JKJAAC.
The Azadi Times will continue to monitor developments and seek responses from all relevant parties.
